About Us

Kence Tech is run by Casey Peel (he/him). Before starting Kence Tech, Casey worked in various technical and leadership roles in the corporate technology space for over 25 years, from technically leading teams solving difficult problems to improving system reliability deep in the software stack.

Casey is the lead developer of the open source software running Distributed Proofreaders, an online community creating eBooks from books in the public domain. He's been an active member of the development team, sysadmin team, and community since 2006.

He is a fierce advocate of equality and diversity—particularly of women, LGBTQ+ people, and people of color—in the workplace and in online communities.
